A Village Fair-Paragraph

A village fair is a large gathering of the village people. It is held in an open place either on the bank of a river or in the yard of a temple or a school. Goods of different kinds and tastes are brought here for show and sale. Generally it is held on the occasion of Puja and other traditional cultural days. It is a kind of exhibition and selling centre of various useful things made by the rural artisans and craftsmen. Thus it acts like a market for cottage industries. Some traders come from far and near to sell their goods. They bring clothes of various kinds, ready-made garments, cheap fancy goods, dolls, utensils, cheap sweets and other things useful to the villagers. Fancy goods have the greatest demand in a fair. A village fair is a long-desired occasion for the village people. It promotes rural arts and crafts. So, the government should encourage the fairs but should not allow gambling and other evil things here.
