A Visit to a Place of Historical Interest

Man is not satisfied what he has seen and known. He wants to see more. He wants to know more. So he wants to visit the historical places. A visit to a historical place is not only interesting but also educative. I visit the historical places of our country whenever I get time and chance. This winter I visited Bagerhat, a historical place.

Preparation: Two of my friends were with me. We hired a taxi. On the fixed day we started for Bagerhat at 8 a.m. We reached there at 10 a.m. The Mazar: I saw the Mazar of Khan Jahan Ali. It is a fine one storeyed building. Khan Jahan Ali was buried there. There is a small mosque nearby. In the month of Chaitra a big fair is held near the Mazar. Many people from far and wide come to attend the fair. The Dargadhigi: There is a big tank in front of the Mazar. It is called the Khan Jahan Ali Dargadhigi. There are some crocodiles in this tank.

I visited the Dighi and some crocodiles in it with my own eyes. I got a lot of pleasure. The Shatgambuz Mosque: Then I was surprised to visit that Shatgambuz Mosque. It is a large building. It is beautifully decorated. It is famous for its architectural beauties. It was used not only as a prayer hall but also as a court of justice by Khan, Jahan Ali.

The Ghora Dighi: There is also a big dighi near the mosque. This is called the Ghora Dighi. It is said that before digging it, a horse was made to run a race. It stooped covering a distance. This distance was accepted as the length of the dighi.

Conclusion: We also visited many social works of Khan Jahan All like roads, tanks, public buildings etc. I spent the whole day there. However, I got much pleasure and experience. We started back at 5.30 p.m. The sweet memory of this visit will remain ever fresh in my mind.
